Daroo poora bajh parhezon asar jiven nahin kar sakda; Amal na hathin kariye jekar kamm nahin koi sar sakda. Dhood nahin mildi sant janan di jekar man satkar nahin; Gian kadi nahin dil vich tikda je gur te itbar nahin. Gur bin hunda gian kadi nahin man bin gian khalonda nahin; Avtar je panj pran na mannieyn shabad bodh vi honda nahin. |

| Just as even the best medicine cannot be effective without observing the precautions; Likewise, no task can be accomplished without practical action. One cannot attain the dust of the feet of the saints, without reverence in the heart; Divine knowledge can never take roots in the heart unless accompanied by faith in the True Master. Divine knowledge cannot be attained without the grace of the True Master and the mind cannot stop oscillating without divine knowledge; Avtar says, unless we abide by the five pledges, the divine world cannot be imbibed. |
Meaning
As the best medicine is not effective without practicing prescribed precautions and no task can be carried out without the practical actions. Similarly, one cannot gain saints’ blessings till he does not have respect in the heart.
Likewise God knowledge (Brahmgyan) cannot stay in the heart unless one has absolute faith in the True Lord Master (Satguru). God realization is possible only with the blessings of the True Master and cannot be attained without HIS (Satguru) grace. Moreover, the instability of mind cannot be stopped without the divine knowledge. Lastly, the divine world cannot be understood unless we practice the five commandments (panch pran).
